**Nampa Police Arrest Two after Shots Fired Incident**

On February 22, 2025, Nampa Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of High Street just after 10:00 a.m. Following an investigation, officers determined that an argument in a front yard had escalated, resulting in shots being fired at a vehicle.

The vehicle was hit by several bullets, but fortunately, the victim inside was not injured.

Nampa residents Gretchen J. Peterson, 48, and Jason M. Peterson, 52, were arrested in relation to the incident. Gretchen Peterson faces charges of unlawful discharge of a firearm into a vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism exceeding $1,000, and rioting. Jason Peterson was charged with assault and rioting. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Canyon County Jail.

Detectives confirmed that the altercation involved alcohol and firearms. They emphasized that this was an isolated incident and assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Detective Jonathan Styles commented, “Alcohol misuse and firearms are a dangerous combination. We are lucky this incident did not result in serious injury or loss of life. Alcohol consumption and firearms do not mix.”
