Boise February Cultural Events Delight Audiences

This February brings several cultural events across Boise and nearby communities, featuring music, theater, and storytelling.

On February 9, the Visual Arts Collective in Garden City hosts Story Story Night’s “Story Story Late-Night – FALLiNG UP.” The event, hosted by Beth Norton with music by Jesse Blake Rundle, offers personal stories centered on the event’s theme. Tickets are priced at $18 in advance and $20 at the door.

The Boise Philharmonic appears twice this month. On February 11, a free concert is held at the Nampa Public Library, starting with an Instrument Petting Zoo at 5 p.m. and a live performance at 6 p.m., making this a family-friendly event. Then, on February 14, the Philharmonic returns with the “Phil the Love Family Concert” at the NNU Brandt Center in Nampa. This one-hour classical music performance is tailored for all ages, with tickets priced at $15 for adults and free admission for those 18 and under.

On February 16, the Boise Contemporary Theater stages the “5x5 Reading Series” with a reading of “Fat Ham” by James Ijames. The event at the theater in Boise marks the transition of the new play from script to stage under the direction of John Wicks, offering audiences a glimpse into modern interpretations of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.”

February 17 features a “Do Good Conversation Series” event at Inspiration Alley in Boise presented by HMK Impact. This free event, or pay-what-you-can option, includes a discussion on the transition “From House to Home” with speakers Ali Rabe, Margaret Carmel, and Shellan Rodriguez.

Finally, on February 28, Pendulum Early Music takes the stage at St. Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral in Boise with “A Voice Within – Bach & the Piccolo Cello in Song.” This free event pairs vocal arias by Johann Sebastian Bach with selected movements of his D Major Cello Suite and a trio sonata by Dieterich Buxtehude.
