**Living Voices Presents "Within The Silence" at Nampa Public Library**
Nampa, ID – On Monday, January 13, from 6-7 PM, the Nampa Public Library is hosting a special educational performance titled *Within the Silence*, presented by Living Voices. The show will take place in the library's multipurpose rooms and is suitable for audiences from 4th grade to adults.
*Within the Silence* explores the profound impact of Executive Order 9066, which resulted in the imprisonment of thousands of Japanese Americans during World War II. Through the perspective of Emiko, a Japanese American teenager living in 1941, the performance delves into the challenges faced by her and her family after the attack on Pearl Harbor unleashed waves of racism and xenophobia. Forced to prove their loyalty to a country that doubted them, Emiko and her family navigate the pain and complexity of being labeled "the face of the enemy."
This educational production is developed in partnership with the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian American Experience. Living Voices, known for blending dynamic theatrical performances with archival film, brings this chapter of history vividly to life.
A question and answer session will follow the performance, providing an opportunity for further discussion and reflection on this critical moment in history.
